Hey, guys! This is the third, almost late but not quite I swear it's still the weekend on the east coast check-in!

How is your project going? If you're bogged down in the middle, what's holding you back? If you haven't started yet, what's giving you trouble? If everything is going well and you're finished, well...what's your secret for the rest of us??? Feel free to post snippets etc here too!

It's not :((((( I keep getting distracted by other things. Those other things are fun, though, so I guess I'm still technically treating myself?

I might revise my project so that I edit and flesh out the first part so it's a bit more coherent. It's something I've wanted to do anyway, and won't be (quite) as intensive as writing new material.

Awww, yeah, as long as you're having fun with what you're doing that counts as treating yo self! Don't stress! We want people to enjoy what they're doing. <3333 I think revising sounds like a good plan too, if it's been on your mind!

*pets* you're always posting snippets on tumblr so I don't think you have any need to be worried as long as it's fun things! (on top of updating the new story you're writing with Spicy!) Editing is always a good productive fallback if words aren't coming. Good luck!

Progress has been made!!

I ended up posted one of the fics I had intended for TYS because I was just so happy to finish a fic for the first time in so long heh

Now I've moved on to working on chapter updates for my large WIPs. This weekend has been kind to me in terms of workload (as in no work for once omfg) so here's a snippet! Not a very interesting snippet, but should be easy to guess what it's from ;)

“Our best bet would be to travel north into the forestlands bordering the Eira mountains and then work our way east,” Erik said, tracing the proposed route with a finger. “We’ll have to pick our way through the trees, which will take us longer, but if we’re lucky, the knights Shaw will send after us won’t realize we’ve taken this route until it’s too late to figure out which direction we went in the forests.”

“And if we aren’t lucky?” Armando asked dryly.

“I can cover our tracks and leave false ones if we need to. Besides, Egis’ best trackers are Azazel and Janos; they won’t be the ones looking for us.”

“How can you be so sure of that?” Armando demanded.

Erik looked him steadily in the eye and said, “Because they’re brothers to me in all but blood, and I would trust them with my life and the lives I choose to protect -- even in this situation we find ourselves in.”

Armando frowned but didn’t argue with that statement, instead looking to Charles. Erik followed his glance, wanting to know Charles’ thoughts on the matter.

“I’m sure it’ll be fine,” Charles assured them. “I can be of help covering our tracks and moving through the trees. I wasn’t raised among druids for nothing, after all.”

A smile lifted the corner of Charles’ lips briefly, and Erik tried to ignore how much he liked seeing the light of confidence in Charles’ eyes. He’d always appreciated competence.

Yay for posting fic! I hear you on not being able to wait. Waiting is torture lol. I approve of working on WIPs - that snippet is intriguing!

Yay I'm glad it's intriguing! This chapter has been a struggle to write since not a whole lot happens much -- at least that I've planned orz. (I'm afraid of it being boring to read to be honest...)

*pets* Well, signing up doesn't require you to produce anything, so don't delete it unless you really don't like having it out there? (If you do delete it and end up rallying later, you're more than welcome to continue participating, as we know you signed up!) I'm sorry you're having a hard time with it, writer's block is the worst. :(

Hey, there's no obligation at all to finish! You can always treat yourself by dropping out and not dealing with the added stress <3

Or maybe you can treat yourself to coming up with a few story ideas by the end?

I wrote something today for the first time in weeks (well, apart from a haiku for fan_flashworks ten days ago)! it's not finished but at least there are words...

[I also took a roadtrip with a friend for location purposes; it snowed.]

Arctic AU anon here.

I am nowhere near done - Charles has literally just arrived - but I have momentum still.

Favourite Part thus far:

Behind her visor, Moira smiled brightly. “Nice to meet you too, Charles. I’m sorry you won’t be staying with me,” she said, before turning back to her own brat again.

“Oh, right!”

Xavier turned. His face was covered with fabrics and a visor, but even through the dark, Erik could see the light in his enthusiastic eyes. He clenched his jaw.

“You must be Dr. Lehnsherr. I’m sorry for all the inconvenience this must have caused you. Charles Xavier.”

Xavier reached out his mitten-clad hand. Erik stared at it, disbelieving, but when Moira sent him a look over her shoulder, he did send Xavier a curt nod. “Welcome.”

“Thank you,” Xavier said, eyes crinkling even as his hand fell to his side, useless.

Erik suppressed a sigh. “That’s all you’ve got?” he said, pointing at the boxes on the ground.

Behind his visor, Xavier’s blue eyes glinted, and he shrugged. “Yes, and the backpack of course. Should be enough for three months, if there’s a washing machine.”

“No. You wash by hand,” Erik told him, and motioned for the snowmobile. “You’ll ride on the sled. Luggage beside the crate.”

Xavier nodded, bent down and with without much effort, hefted one of the boxes up on the space behind the crate. Erik grabbed the other, surprisingly heavy box, put it beside it before he latched down the both of them with the flat hook straps. If he pulled a little harder than necessary to secure it, it was nobody’s business but his own.

Well, last night I finished and posted the big fake boyfriends fic I've spent the last few weeks writing! And now I'm in that weird limbo state after a project where I'm not 100% sure what I want to do next. My main options at the moment are to start working on granddadneto or zombia apocalypse as my ~official treat yo self story, or treat myself by working on my time travel WIP instead. It's also entirely possible I'll decide to write something totally different than those three things, so I guess we'll see!

We've been making relatively good progress on the writing front but at the same time I'm not too sure if we'll be able to finish by posting time just because. It's really, really long so far. We're about 6k in but all that has only been set-up so far.

But the good news is that we're finally edging into spy territory?

Here's a snippet Alex ponders this for a long moment. He thinks back to Brenda and Ted and the For Rent sign hanging outside. Goodness knows where his foster parents ended up. And with the Headmaster’s murder, who knows how long school would be shut down for. “Does it look like I have anywhere? I’ll go with you for now.”

“Now that that’s settled,” Galahad leant over to pick the keys off the table, his glasses hiding what Alex would swear was a manic glint in his eyes “Let’s make a move now, shall we?”

“Oh hell no,” Darwin exclaims, reaching over to pluck the keys from Galahad’s fingers. “I’m not having you wearing the thread down on my new tires!”

“Where are we going?” Alex asks, looking at Darwin, between the two of them, he’s more likely to give Alex a straight answer.

“Over towards Carrion Cove.”

“Wasn’t that the abandoned military testing site?” Alex asks.

“That’s what we all want you to think,” Darwin says with a wink.

Awww, it's good that you're making progress! Even if you aren't totally done by posting time, at least you'll have written stuff you may not have otherwise, right? Keep up the good work! :D

At this point I think I've decided to throw all of myself into the mpreg Erik fic as my official treat since it's the main thing I've worked on. It's now at 4.3k words (which is right now the longest thing I've written this year) where as the McFassy D/s fic is still at 1.7k words (I've done some editing to it but otherwise it's just sat there.)

I'm currently trying to make myself write a scene I've been struggling with mainly because my knowledge of Magda comes from a marvel wiki, so I'm worried I won't write it the right way. But I feel like this scene is important and if I take it out I have to shift a bunch of other stuff and I don't wanna.

I've also decided that I will probably have a few time skips to cover the things I absolutely want to cover while leaving other stuff for either side stories or the imagination of the reader so that way I can actually finish this in time.

Yesssssss, Erik mpreg! I'm still so on board for this, and glad you're making such good progress! And also glad that Magda will be making an appearance - I love her. (My knowledge of Magda comes from wiki etc too so no judgement here lol.) And time skips sound like a great idea too - never be afraid to jump to the really important stuff, imo!

Thank you! I'm like 90% sure that the reason I started writing this was because of you anyway (a post you'd made ages ago wanting some mpreg Erik) so your continued encouragement helps a lot and I hope I don't disappoint! Also I had to include Magda because I felt like she was the one who best fit for a particular scene especially since this is so Erik focused that not including her felt wrong.

And yay for jumping to the important stuff. I just don't want to bore myself or anyone else with like boring bits that are just like mostly pregnancy bits when I can like quickly cover those in "over the last few months blah blah blah" and then get to "important bit that needs to be told"

I'm very excited for your Erik mpreg story too! Glad Magda is included and I don't think you need to stress too much about her characterization. Sorry I've been MIA lately, everyone. I was sick last week and traveling this weekend, but I am finally done with all of the things! (For now).

I got off track in writing the past two weeks because I was either swamped or too sick to write, but I'm hoping to continue some progress on my D/s AU. I also have some ideas for some short porn one-shots I may write as a treat to myself and a fallback if I don't finish the longer AU (which is looking more and more likely).
